Welcome to CQ Arizona

Although this is a page generally for Amateur Radio Ops in Arizona, it's certainly open to all hams; this IS an International hobby after all. I hope you find something you can use to enhance your fun and knowledge.

CCD Antennas - We finally got all the parts for the first runs of these babies and have even sold a few.  Everyone seems to really love the performance.  I've tried a 20, 40, and 80 meter version and they really do work well.

Content!

Sure, I'm proud of my station and like a proud parent you'll find pictures all over the site..  But, I've also documented some of my 34 years experience as a ham and I hope you find something that is of interest.  Less links...more content!  I've played with solar panels and have them running everything that is 12 volts that I run.  And I've created several screen savers of different kinds of gear that you might enjoy.  And I finally put up a tower and beam.  Being a Webmaster by trade I feel people surf for information and not just sites with links to sites with links to...well, you get my drift.

CCD Antennas!  Over the years I've done a lot of wire antenna projects.  One of the few times something that is usually better is also cheaper.  Oh, a 10 element wide spaced beam at 100 feet on 20 works better than a wire antenna, but the cost/effectiveness lines cross at a fairly high cost.  One of the more interesting antennas I've messed with over the years is the CCD antenna.  Check it out!

CW!  Since it became a requirement to become a ham the issue has been in debate.  Do we need it to become CW ops to be good hams.  Probably not.  Will it be around much longer as a requirement?  Probably not.  Do I mind?  Not really.  BUT...what I do find sad are the numbers of hams who will never discover the pure joy of operating CW.  It's a little hard to learn, but everything worth learning had its difficulties.  I've been an avid CW operator for all of my time as a ham.  And in those years I've taught a lot of people and I put down in writing what I've learned.  But, I'll admit that I probably wouldn't have learned the code if I hadn't had to to become a ham.  I'm sure glad I had to learn it.  So, if you are interested in learning a golden mode, click here for No Code to Know Code!

Repeater! I'm the trustee of a pair of repeaters in Tempe, AZ.  To learn more about these resources, click here.

If you have questions of comments you can contact me at or find me on 40 meters CW around 7.020.
